Don't just take my word for it

El Camino Mexicano on Urbanspoon

DISQUALIFIED. I think in reality this place is first and foremost a restaurant but they advertise their take-away menu and they should do better. A ‘burrito’ served in a tray with rice and lettuce on the side. Couldn’t pick it up as it wasn’t tightly wrapped. Meat was actually very nice but this was not a proper take-away burrito!

Part of Londons best burrito

Back in October 2010 I decided to try and find what I felt was London's best burrito after noticing that there was quite a lot of choice. To make it a fair test I set the following rules:

  • steak burrito
  • no guacamole
  • hot sauce
  • to go (no knife and fork allowed)

How does this burrito ran in my quest? See my full list of what I feel are London's best burritos.

    Hola Ross!

We’ve just stumbled upon your blog and would like to invite you back to El Camion for another Burrito. We think your experience was just plain loco and would like you to give us another try. At your convenience please call Bruno or Jon at El Camion in Soho at 020 7734 7711 and lets talk burritos!

Thanks for the offer – as I said, this related to take-away burritos only, do you still serve them in a tray?

  • Crumpeats

Just ate at the one in Portabello- was good in that setting and the meat was lovely, but can’t imagine the concept working in Soho. Obviously didnt!

Well the burrito itself wasn’t awful in terms of ingredients and taste but it was totally not a take-away one which is why it got rated so low.
